Terms and Conditions for Device Trade-In with PTC
- Ownership Confirmation: I confirm that I am the sole and rightful owner of the device(s) being sold to PTC. If any device(s) are identified as lost or stolen, I waive my right to payment.
- Data Responsibility: I acknowledge that all data stored on the device(s) may be deleted and will be unrecoverable. Customers are responsible for securing and backing up data prior to sending their device(s) to PTC.
- Device Reset: PTC will attempt to reset devices to factory settings and erase all content. However, if the device is irrecoverable, this may not be possible.
- Accurate Device Information: The condition and model information provided for the device(s) must be accurate. PTC reserves the right to reject devices with inaccurate or incomplete information, including but not limited to device model, IMEI, purchase date and purchase origin etc.
- Product Condition Grading: PTC uses four (4) basic Product conditions to evaluate items: “As New,” “Good,” “Working,” and “Dead.” Detailed guidelines for these conditions are provided during the quoting process on the website. Customers are responsible for selecting the condition that accurately represents their device(s).
- Condition Definition Changes: PTC reserves the right to update or modify condition definitions at its discretion. If you are unsure about your Product’s condition, contact PTC’s customer support for assistance.
- Proof of Ownership: Customers may be required to provide proof of purchase (e.g., invoice) for the device(s). Failure to provide proof may result in rejection of the trade-in request.
- ID Verification: Customers may be required to provide a copy of an Australian driver’s license or passport. Failure to provide valid identification may result in rejection of the trade-in request.
- Overseas Devices: PTC reserves the right to reject devices originating from overseas. Customers may be offered a revised value; customer can choose to accept or decline the new offer.
- Illegal Devices: Stolen, blocked, counterfeit, or fake devices will be reported to law enforcement. No payment will be issued, and such devices will not be returned.
- Damaged Devices: Devices found to have liquid or physical damage during assessment may be subject to a revised offer. Customers can accept the new offer or have the device returned.
- Unauthorized Repairs: For devices with missing or aftermarket parts, unauthorized modifications, or software alterations (e.g., jailbroken iPhones or rooted Android devices) PTC may reject the trade in request and return the device or offer a revised value to the customer. Customers can choose to accept or decline the new offer.
- Product Valuation: All trade-in offers are based on PTC’s assessment of the Product value, which considers factors such as model, functionality, and condition. Trade-in offers are subject to change if the device is not as described during the quoting process on the website.
- Offer Options: Customers may accept or reject PTC’s trade-in offers. Acceptance indicates agreement to trade the device at the offered price. If the offer is rejected, the transaction would be voided. Customers wishing to reconsider must open a new transaction, which may include a revised offer.
- Revised Offers: If a device’s condition differs from what was declared, PTC will contact the customer with a revised offer. If no response is received within 7 days, PTC will process the revised offer automatically.
- Timely Receipt: Devices must arrive at PTC within 7 days of the trade-in offer. PTC reserves the right to amend the offer if the device is not received within 7 days.
- Accessories Disposal: Any accessories sent with devices, such as chargers, covers, SIM cards, or boxes, will be recycled or disposed of at the time of receiving, and will not be returned.
- iCloud-Locked Devices: Devices locked to an iCloud account must be unlocked within 7 days of notification. Otherwise, PTC will dispose of the device.
- Unordered Devices: Devices sent to PTC without a valid trade-in order (“sell order”) will prompt PTC to contact the sender. If no response is received within 14 days, PTC will process the device and offer the “current website price” at the time of contact.
- Risk-Free Assessment: Upon receipt, devices are assessed based on the conditions specified by PTC. Customers will be contacted if the condition differs from the initial submission.
- Transit Liability (Free Satchel Method): PTC is not liable for items lost or damaged during transit using the Free Return Label Method and customer own postage method. Customers are encouraged to purchase transit insurance or extra cover through Australia Post for added protection and additional security.
- GST Inclusion: All device trade in pricing is inclusive of GST.
- Payment Accuracy: Customers must provide accurate payment details (PayID only). Errors in payment information may result in loss of funds, PTC is not liable for loss of funds due to inaccurate payment information provided by customers.
- Privacy Policy: Personal information provided to PTC is governed by the company’s privacy policy, available on its website. The privacy policy may be updated periodically. (https://www.ptc.net.au/privacy-policy/)
- Modifications to the Service and Prices: PTC reserves the right to modify or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time without prior notice. This includes price changes for products or services.
- No Liability for Modifications: PTC shall not be held liable to customers or third parties for any modifications, price changes, or discontinuations of the Service.
- Guidance for Uncertainty: If unsure about the condition of your device, please contact PTC’s customer support for assistance before submitting your device for trade-in.
- Final Decisions: PTC reserves the right to reject any trade-in offer based on device condition, origin, or any discrepancies from the initial declaration.
